Paxolin- or phenolioc resin- is the material Herb Smith first introduced to boomeranging as far back as 1986. Specific weight and density seemed superior to plywood at the time, toughness being an extra benefit. Pax is material of choice for winds and for longer range boopmeranngs. It is not too expensive, easy to flex-tune. Downside is that it tends to get brittle in low temperatures- so when you throw or tune a pax boomerang in Winter be very careful!

G 12 epoxy laminate is an epoxy composite based on fiber glass. It is appr. 30% heavier than paxolin, a lot more expensive, hard on tools. The upside being that is is virtually unbreakable, hard to beat in wind- and never to pass in long distance. Being thinner at the same size they cut through wind better, spin much better (so your throw gets a lot easier), go further (due to less lift)- BUT: they generally need more wind for a complete return.

Result for all boomerangs in this section:
advantages: G 12 variations have 25-50% more range than Paxolin versions of the same model, they are easier to get to spin, they fight the wind better and they are almost unbreakable.
disadvantages: G 12 models need more wind for a full return, the throwing window (tolerance) is smaller than for Paxolin, and they are more expensive.

CHALLENGER II: made from 3mm paxolin, this model is lighter and easier to throw and still can get you out there close to 100 metres, if it's tuned and weighted correctly. It can take an enormous amount of wind and it has even been repeatedly used by competitors for MTA in high winds, because it has such a high spin retention rate! The use of throwing gloves is recommended for this model.

MODEL III: for winds 1-3 bfts and gusts. This one is still fast enough to make a 23-25 sec-round, without sacrificing too much of the safety you want, specially when you are in any team event! Very good for Accuracy event as well. Just throw it slightly higher and more vertically.

Paxolin MTA 1 - this is a good and steady MTA rang for both the beginner and advanced MTA thrower. Easy to tune and stable in flight and still able to get you very good flight times if you do your tuning homework well. WINDEATER I - MOVE IT OR PARK IT ( can't do without this one, folks...) 4mm paxolin: The daddy of them all, the most successful Windeater so far, it has won several international records and titles over the years, and is highly regarded. It is a killer in stronger winds due to its incredible stability and predictability - PLUS, it is a pretty good catch too, and real accurate. It has definitely won its merits over the years of the Boom World Cups. Can be used in 4 Bfts with no problems. Range is 40-60 meters, has to be tuned for best results though.

WINDEATER III : 3mm thickness. Another variation of a successful theme, this one has a totally different airfoil from I and II, and holes to reduce spin and add drag, in order to make it a safer boom in stronger winds. Originally designed as a CATCHABLE and PREDICTABLE boom for Trick-Catch-Event it has a short but very practical hover that allows you to position yourself for the catch, even in harder winds. Range 30-40 meters, depending on weighs and tuning. This is my personal all time favorite! And everywhere I go I take it, just because it works under almost ANY kind of condition, calm to very windy and gusty! Wingspan 25 cm

IMPORTANT All boomerangs must be used with extreme caution in order not to cause damage to people or objects. The Paxolin and G12 boomerangs are thinner and heavier than plywood boomerangs, so they will fly further and spin faster than normal plywood boomerangs.
